Bill Russell pays his respects (1956)

KPIX-TV silent news footage from 1956 featuring scenes of the University of San Francisco's Dons mens basketball team, including views of the late Bill Russell doffing his hat to the camera and smiling.

The Dons had just won their second consecutive NCAA title (in an unbeaten season). This segment is taken from our film ID no. KPIX 593, which includes views of the players and students riding through San Francisco neighborhoods to City Hall and then downtown along Market Street, past crowds of cheering people and onlookers.
