MEDIEVAL Anonymous (400-1500): Minerals such as malachite; lapis lazuli; and azurite were ground to make colors. Earth pigments included green earth; yellow ocher; and red ocher. These colors were mixed with a binding medium such as egg white to form tempera paint.
